Homeownership Education and Counseling
UEDC offers group education for first time homebuyers who are thinking about purchasing a home. The workshops cover budgeting, credit, selecting a home, selecting a loan product, the home purchase process, avoiding foreclosure, maintenance, and much more.
UEDC also provides one-on-one homeownership counseling to first time homebuyers who are interested in knowing the facts about buying a home and low interest rate loans. In a typical counseling session, a counselor will explain mortgage loan qualifications, assist with credit repair, review budget, review loan products intended for first-time buyers, discuss upfront money needed, inform the client of current special grants and programs that are available, answer questions, and give appropriate referrals, if needed.
UEDC also offers free counseling through the National Foreclosure Mitigation Counseling Program. This program is designed to assist you in understanding the complex foreclosure process, help you review your options and identify a possible course of action.
